Pharmacological Sciences has over 200 computer workstations running Windows XP/2000/Vista, MacOS 9/X, Redhat Linux, and SGI IRIX. All of these computers are networked together over a 10/100/1000 switched Ethernet LAN that is connected to the rest of Stony Brook campus, as well as, the Internet. The Department provides E-mail (web-based & IMAPS, as well as, no space restrictions), web-based group calendaring/scheduling, network disk space via central RAID-based file servers (approx 2TB), automatic central tape backups, and a departmental web site for disseminating information (Apache). There are also a half dozen SGI graphics workstations for use for Molecular Visualization & Dynamics. The Department also has licenses/access to a variety of scientific analysis programs such as Vector NTI, GeneSpring, and GCG.
