A Message to Pharmacology’s Graduate Students
From Dr. Michael Frohman
I want to extend my warmest welcome to potential applicants to our program, to the new incoming students, and to our current graduate student body. I am sure that all the new students are feeling somewhat apprehensive about entering the pharmacological sciences graduate program. Your selection into this program already demonstrates that we have strong confidence that you will be highly successful in all your efforts. Let me assure you that the faculty, students and staff will do their utmost to make your graduate education a very rewarding yet challenging experience.
You should also be aware that you embarked on your careers at a unique turning point in the biological sciences. Never before has there been such an explosive period of discovery and understanding of mammalian pharmacology, particularly in the areas of molecular mechanisms and therapeutic interventions. At this state of your careers, you are in perfect position to take advantage of these new advances in biomolecular and chemical biological technologies. If you apply yourself and remain focused on both didactic and wet bench laboratory skills that you will learn, your future in science will be limitless. This is a great time to be a graduate student and I hope that you will take advantage of the opportunities that will be coming your way.
I am very pleased that you have chosen to become a member of our department. During your training you will come to appreciate that you have entered one of the finest pharmacology programs in the country. You will have the tremendous opportunity to work with the leading scientist in their fields and to experience cutting-edge biomolecular research at its very best.
Welcome aboard,
Michael Frohman, Interim Chair
