Saj Parathath's Dissertation Defense
Pharmacology's newest Ph.D., Dr. Saj Parathath, and co-advisor, Dr. Marge Connelly, share a bittersweet moment as they celebrate the successful defense on 03/18/05. The dissertation was entitled, "The role of SR-BI in mediating changes in phospholipid composition and enzymatic function at the plasma membrane." Saj's advisor, Professor Dave Williams, passed away suddenly in July 2004 and Dr. Connelly took on the role of co-advisor. Each member of the Williams Lab took a turn toasting (and roasting!) Dr. Parathath with words that they thought Dr. Williams would say at the occasion! Dr. Parathath is the 82nd PhD in the 35-year history of the Graduate Program in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology! Congratulations!
