Project: I am interested in the damage recognition step and the dual incision step in global genomic NER. In order to investigate these steps in NER, I have synthesized modified bases on DNA and this will provide a better experimental system.
Further, my goal is to better understand how much distortion on DNA influences the damage recognition and NER efficiency and the mechanism of the incision step by two endonucleases, ERCC1-XPF and XPG, by using modifications in the phospghodiester bonds of DNA to modulate the cleavage step in NER pathway
