STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK AT STONY BROOK
Medical Scientist (M.D./Ph.D.) Training Program

The 47th Annual National Student Research Forum (NSRF) will be held at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, on April 27-28, 2006. We are delighted to welcome Timothy M. Crombleholme, M.D. from the University of Cincinnati as the 2006 Abreu Memorial keynote speaker.

The NSRF provides a national forum for presentation of outstanding research by medical students, interns, residents, and graduate students in the biomedical sciences. The program also recognizes research accomplishments by means of cash awards as determined by the evaluations of established medical scientists and the co-directors.

We encourage all medical and graduate students participating in biomedical research to submit an abstract. The deadline for NSRF abstract submissions is January 13, 2006. I am writing you on behalf of the 2005-2006 Co-directors to ask you to forward this information throughout your institution. We want to extend this opportunity to young scientists to receive meaningful and pertinent evaluation of their research efforts from their peers and established scientists in a forum meeting the highest possible standards. We would greatly appreciate if you would please forward this information to medical and graduate students in your program areas.

Please visit www.utmb.edu/nsrf for the application and event details. I have also included a flyer below to help advertise the event. Abstract submissions are to be sent to k.barfield@utmb.edu with attention directed to Kimberly Barfield. You may reach her directly at 409-772-3390 if you have any questions. Thank you for your time, and assistance in providing this exciting opportunity to your students.

Sincerely,
Michael E. Woods
2005-2006 NSRF Student Co-Director
