Conference
Opportunities!
The
2nd Annual New York Regional Symposium of the American Physician Scientists
Association (APSA) will be taking place November 22, 2008
at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. APSA is a national student organization
dedicated to serving physician-scientists in training and is particularly
focused on providing resources, networking and career development. One
goal of our organization is to provide vertical mentoring for pre-medical,
medical, and MD/PhD students interested in having a research component
to their career.
The
2008 Symposium will feature keynote presentations focused on research
and career development by Leon Rosenberg, MD, Katherine High, MD, Mark
Ptashne, PhD, and Vern Schramm, PhD. Breakout sessions with panel discussions
will allow attendees to gather information about a broad variety of
topics including MD vs. MD/PhD vs. PhD career options, transitions throughout
MD/PhD training, and advice on residency programs and admissions. We
hope this conference will be very useful to MD and MD/PhD students in
training.

Last year's event sold out a number of weeks in advance, so please encourage
your students to register early.
