To Holiday Inn Express From The L.I.E. (I-495) East

Take the Long Island Expressway (I-495) East to Exit 62 and follow Nicolls Road (County Road 97) North approx. 6 miles to Route 347 and make a right. Holiday Inn is about 1/4 mile ahead on right. Please see link for details. Holiday Inn Express.

To Stony Brook University Medical Center From The Holiday Inn Express

Make a right out of the parking lot and go up to the 1st traffic light and make a U-turn. Go up two traffic lights and make a right onto (County Road 97) North for approx. 2 miles until you see signs on the right indicating Stony Brook University Medical Center. Make a right (at the South Entrance sign). Go up to the 2nd light and make a left and park in the Hospital Parking Garage. Go towards the ticket booth and hit the buzzer to get your ticket. Please bring the ticket with you, and I will validate it. After you park, please head to the main entrance of the hospital.

Complimentary Shuttle Service
The Holiday Inn Express offer a complimentary shuttle service to Islip/MacArthur Airport, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook Hospital, and the Health Sciences Center, Port Jefferson Ferry and Stony Brook Train Station. Shuttle hours are from 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM based upon availability. Please call (631) 471-8000 in advance to make shuttle arrangements. Please arrange for the shuttle to drop you off at the hospital main entrance.

To Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory From Holiday Inn Express
Make a right out of the parking lot, go up to the 1st traffic light and make a U-turn. Go up two traffic lights and make a left onto (County Road 97) South for approx. 6 miles to the Long Island Expressway (I-495) West to Exit 44N which is the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway (Route 135) North. Take Exit 14E towards Woodbury. Turn Right onto Jericho Turnpike (NY-25 E). Make a left onto South Woods Road and follow to the end. Make a right onto Cold Spring Road and merge onto Route 25A eastbound. A sign marking Bungtown Road precedes the entrance to the Laboratory. Make a left at the traffic light. You will see a lighted CSHL sign and a large gold Victorian house by the entrance. You have gone a little too far if you pass route 108. Please see link for details. Cold Spring Harbor Station.

To Brookhaven Lab From Holiday Inn Express
Make a right out of the parking lot and go up to the 1st traffic light and make a U-turn. Go up two traffic lights and make a left onto (County Road 97) South for approx. 6 miles to the Long Island Expressway (I-495) East to Exit 68 (William Floyd Parkway, County Road 46). Go North on William Floyd Parkway, go 2.4 kilometers (1 ½ miles) to BNL’s gate (on right at second light).

By Plane
Long Island Islip-MacArthur Airport is 16 miles from the campus and is serviced by direct flights by major airlines and commuter lines. New York City Area Airports (JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark) are 50 miles west of Stony Brook.

From Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip - Driving directions to Stony Brook University from Islip-MacArthur Airport. Exit the airport and turn left onto Veterans Memorial Highway (Route 454 West). Merge onto Sunrise Highway (Route 27) and take the second exit onto Nicolls Road. Drive north for 12 miles. The main entrance to the University is on the right. Park in the Hospital Parking Garage. Go towards the ticket booth and hit the buzzer to get your ticket. Bring the ticket with you, and I will validate it. Please park and head towards the main entrance of the hospital.

From John F. Kennedy International Airport - Take the JFK expressway (I-678) North to the Van Wyke Expressway (I-678) North to the Long Island Expressway (I-495) East to exit 62 and follow Nicolls Road (County Road 97) North for ~7.9 miles until you see signs on right indicating Stony Brook University Medical Center. Make a right (at the South Entrance sign). Go up to the 2nd light and make a left and park in the Hospital Parking Garage. Go towards the ticket booth and hit the buzzer to get your ticket. Bring the ticket with you, and I will validate it. Please park and head towards the main entrance of the hospital.

You can also take the SuperShuttle service from JFK to Long Island (approx. $65 one way). Reservation can be made by calling 1-800-742-9824.

The AirTrain from JFK to Jamaica station is another form of transportation. You will need to get off at the Jamaica station and take the train to the Stony Brook station. From LaGuardia Airport - Follow the Grand Central Parkway south to the Long Island Expressway (I-495) East to exit 62 and follow Nicolls Road (County Road 97) North for ~7.9 miles until you see signs on right indicating Stony Brook University Medical Center. Make a right (at the South Entrance sign). Go up to the 2nd light and make a left and park in the Hospital Parking Garage. Go towards the ticket booth and hit the buzzer to get your ticket. By Car
From the West (Manhattan) - Take the Long Island Expressway (I-495) Eastbound from the Queens Midtown Tunnel in Manhattan or the Throgs Neck Bridge or Whitestone Bridge in Queens to exit 62, and follow Nicolls Road (County Road 97) North for ~7.9 miles until you see signs on right indicating Stony Brook University Medical Center. Make a right (at the South Entrance sign). Go up to the 2nd light and make a left and park in the Hospital Parking Garage. Go towards the ticket booth and hit the buzzer to get your ticket. From the North (Bronx)- Take the Throgs Neck Bridge (I-295) or Whitestone Bridge (I-678) to the Long Island Expressway (I-495) East to exit 62 and follow Nicolls Road (County Road 97) North for ~7.9 miles until you see signs on right indicating Stony Brook University Medical Center. From the South (Staten Island / New Jersey) - Take the Verrazano Bridge onto the Belt parkway (I-278) East to the Long Island Expressway (I-495) East to exit 62 and follow Nicolls Road (County Road 97) North for ~7.9 miles until you see signs on right indicating Stony Brook University Medical Center. Make a right (at the South Entrance sign). Go up to the 2nd light and make a left and park in the Hospital Parking Garage. By Ferry
Car ferries cross Long Island Sound at Bridgeport, Connecticut to Port Jefferson, Long Island (provides year-round service). Sailing time is about 90 minutes. Take Route 25A west to Nicolls Road, and turn left on Nicolls. The University entrances are the first three intersections you come to. From New London, Connecticut to Orient Point, Long Island, take Route 25A west to Nicolls Road and proceed as above.

By Train
Take the Long Island Railroad's Port Jefferson line from Pennsylvania Station in Manhattan to Stony Brook station. You should be aware that passengers may change trains at either Jamaica or Huntington to reach the Stony Brook station - please check with RR conductor. The L.I.R.R. terminal is located in Pennsylvania Station in New York City and service to Stony Brook is on the Pt. Jefferson branch of the L.I.R.R. (Please allow a minimum of 2 hrs. for train travel). The LIRR station is at the north border of the campus, a campus bus stop is located across the RR tracks which makes pickups approximately every 30 minutes and will take you to the Health Sciences Center - there is no charge for this service. For local taxi service, call A-Cab at (631) 588-8881 (~$7.00 one-way). The L.I.R.R. is 5 minutes from Stony Brook University. The taxi will drop you off at the main entrance of the hospital.
