Subject: Physician Scientist Training Pathway
(PSTP)
I am writing to tell you about our PSTP in Internal Medicine
at the University of California San Diego (UCSD). We would be
grateful if you would make your trainees aware of our program
(described in more detail at http://pstp.ucsd.edu).
We have
designed
this Pathway to nurture physician-scientists with significant
research experiences seeking postgraduate clinical training (residency
and fellowship). We strongly encourage both M.D.-Ph.D. graduates
as well as M.D. graduates with strong research backgrounds and
interest in academic medicine to apply to our program.
The PSTP promotes the career development of outstanding physician-scientists
to facilitate careers in academic medicine by providing:
· Intensive investigational training at a leading research
university
· Opportunities for inter-disciplinary research
experiences at UCSD and affiliated institutions (e.g Salk Institute).
· Supplemental
stipends
· Close integration into
subspecialty fellowship training
· Short-tracking
and flexible scheduling of clinical and research components
Interested candidates should consult http://pstp.ucsd.edu for
more information and application procedures.
Yours truly,
Mark Ginsberg
