Nicholas Bjelke
My name is Nick Bjelke. I went to Stony Brook for college and graduated last May (2019) from the Biochemistry Program. I have always been interested in pharmacology, and entered Stony Brook in 2015 as a pharmacology major before switching to biochemistry. I am primarily interested in neuropharmacology and structural biochemistry. Outside the classroom, I am an avid runner and have been competing in events from the 400m dash to marathon for about 11 years.

Gabriella Calvitto
“I graduated from Quinnipiac University with my Bachelors degree in Biomedical Sciences. I have done research in many different institutions with a focus on immunology and microbiology. I look forward to meeting and working with you all.”

Linesha Davis
I am Linesha Davis, I completed my undergraduate education at NYIT. I'm looking to further my education and future in medicine. I am excited to see what this next chapter brings and to meet all of you!

Arafat Khan
Hi, my name is Arafat Khan. I did my undergrad here at Stony Brook and am excited to spend a few more years here. During my free time, I enjoy playing video games, soccer and experiencing all that Long Island has to offer. I hope to spend a lot of time in lab so feel free to drop by and say hi. I look forward to working with you all.

Briana McGovern
My name is Briana and I am an incoming molecular & cellular pharmacology masters student. I enjoy hiking, traveling, cooking, and listening to music. I am excited to start the semester and continue pursing my goals.

Alejandro Ocampo
Hello all. I’m Alejandro Ocampo, born and raised in Queens, New York. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science with a concentration in toxicology from CUNY’s John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I was introduced to pharmacology through my forensics degree and I’m excited to continue expanding my pharmacological knowledge through coursework and research. Academia wasn’t always my plan. Out of high school, I began working with the TSA at LaGuardia Airport where I eventually became a Supervisory Officer. I made the career change a few years ago to commit to my undergraduate studies full-time. I couldn’t be happier with my decision seeing now where that choice has taken me. I am looking forward to meeting the faculty and my fellow classmates as well as exploring the Stony Brook science labs, campus and local community.

Gregory Smith
Hi! My name is Greg Smith and my research interests are in neuroscience and neuropharmacology. I recently became interested in this field after working with children with autism and other developmental disabilities. Since then, I've become fascinated by disease progression in the brain and the pathophysiology of neuropsychiatric disorders. I'm also interested in healthcare policy development for burn pit exposure victims, pharmacotherapeutic development of vasoactive intestinal peptide, and political activism. Aside from science, I love making espresso, kayaking, and biking. In quarantine, I worked on cooking but I think I still have a way to go until I become a MasterChef ®.

Anthony Zhu
“I am a student that enjoys quiet studying. I aspire to be a researcher in the future.”
