At 9am on April 29, 2013, the department of Pharmacological
Sciences will be migrating email to Google Apps for Education.
Please read the important
information that I have included below. Also, the following
link below has a large amount of relevant information and frequently
asked questions:

Please be aware of the following:
- To log in to Stony Brook Google Mail, go to http://www.stonybrook.edu/mycloud and
sign in with your NetID and NetID password. It is recommended
to update your NetID password (located inside of
SOLAR) as soon as possible before Monday. The reason for this
is that without a recent password change email will not work on
mobile devices or on some email clients.
- Make sure you check your old Pharmacology email account
one last time before 9am on Monday morning (before
the migration begins and before you must login to the new
account)
- Your email address in Google Apps for Education will be firstname.lastname@stonybrook.edu,
otherwise known as your Electronic Post Office (EPO) address.
Some users may have a slight variation of this scheme (e.g. firstname.middleinitial.lastname@stonybrook.edu
or firstname.lastname.1@stonybrook.edu),
but this is what everyone at the University should be using as
their official email address. Most of you can check the
directory link (at the top right hand corner) on the Stony Brook
homepage to find out exactly what your address is.
- All current members of the Pharmacology department will have
their email addresses automatically forwarded to your Google
Apps for Education email address
(firstname.lastname@stonybrook.edu). This forward will be setup
for a minimum of 1 year and possibly up to 3 years (exact time
frame is still being decided upon).
- The migration plan for moving the actual emails from
Pharmacology to Google Apps will begin taking place immediately
following the morning of April 29. Old emails that resided on
your Pharmacology email accounts will not be available
immediately within Google, BUT will begin to transfer
(automatically in the background server side) after the email
change has occurred on the morning of April 29. Depending on
the size of your account, it could take up to a week for all
emails to be transferred. However, most should be completed
within a couple of days. Priority will be given to faculty
& staff.
- Individual emails that are larger than 25 MB will NOT be
migrated.
- Users may also still use their email clients (i.e.,
Thunderbird and Apple mail), however, it is recommended to use
the standard Google web interface (http://www.stonybrook.edu/mycloud)
instead of email clients.
